Too much caffeine taken a few hours before your bed time is going to mess up your sleeping pattern. Studies have found that higher caffeine intake increases the amount of time it takes to wear off. It also decreases the total time of your sleep. Researchers have also proved that caffeine, on an average, remains in your system for five hours, but its effects may last for up to nine hours, depending on the individual. Therefore, there is no doubt that excess caffeine may lead to insomnia.
2) You have Anxiety Issues
Caffeine works by blocking the effects of adenosine which is responsible for making your body feel tired and eventually get sound sleep. At the same time, caffeine helps the body release more adrenaline which charges up the body. With higher doses of caffeine, this combined effect leads to anxiety and nervousness. Also, when consumed in heavy doses in a single sitting, caffeine increases stress levels and rapid breathing.
3) You become Addicted
According to an abstract of a study published in the US National library of edicine, caffeine triggers chemical reaction in the brain which are similar to that of cocaine. Addiction to caffeine is not as strong as that of cocaine. However, you will feel its dependency on your physical performance and workout if you consume it regularly over a period of time.
4) You feel Fatigued
Though caffeine increases your energy levels but as soon as its effects come down, you feel more fatigued than usual. According to a study, when people use caffeine for physical performance or workout, they feel more tired and fatigued the next day than what they would've felt without caffeine.
